Initially feed veterinary dog food for up to 6 months. Optimal effect of the food can be expected within the first 2 months. In case of acute arthritis or mobility problems, analgesics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used during the initial feeding period.
Maintaining the correct weight and activity level of a dog suffering from osteoarthritis is fundamental to maintaining mobility over the long term. Regular weight control is the basis for successful management of osteoarthritis.
